Movie Shots

We had the privilege to go and be extras and background screening in the movie Snow Dogs.  We had received a call from a gentleman in Vancouver who was looking to purchase dogs for the movie.  He came out to our place and took shots of all the dogs we had.  Phantom was actually picked to be one of Cuba's team dogs, but things did not work out, so we thought that everything was done and over with.  Two weeks later, we received another call and asked if we could bring our team, sleds and us to be background screening and extras for the movie.  Of course we said yes, so we made arrangements for people to watch the kids and took time off from work and away we went to Canmore,AB.  The first day, we were up and ready to go at 6:00 AM and headed to downtown Canmore where they blocked off one block to shoot the movie. This was the scene where the Arctic Challenge starts.  It was an eye opener for us and a great learning experience too.  Terry even had a line in the movie, but of course it went to the cutting room.  Too bad.  We were asked to stay and shoot the next day, which was from 4:00 PM until 4:00 AM.  We headed up to Spray Lakes where they shot the night scene, where James Coburn (Thunder Jack) went out into the snow storm at the check stop.  And believe me when I say it was real snow.  No snow machines were used that night!  I hope someday that we will be able to do this again, as it was a great time.  When the movie came out, the owner at Park Plaza Theatre in Red Deer, AB asked us to bring our dogs and do a fundraiser for the SPCA.  We booked off time thinking that two hours should be more than enough.  Five hours later and people were still coming. Enjoy the pictures!
